Why Christian Young Men Are Flocking To Andrew Tate

Why are so many young men today being drawn to a sinful man like Andrew Tate? The reason is because over the last half century churches have stopped teaching what the Bible says about what it means to be a man and what it means to be a woman.

In the last 50 years many churches have stopped teaching the full counsel of God and instead replaced their teaching with a false social gospel which encourages socialism and egalitarianism.

Sadly, even in many Bible believing churches that still teach the true Gospel and not the false social Gospel – they no longer teach on Biblical masculinity, femininity or marriage.

The Gospel is the most important doctrine in the Bible, but it is NOT the only important doctrine in the Bible.

Modern churches, even many conservative evangelical churches, have been condemning masculinity and masculine desires for years telling men they need to be more like women.

And that’s why young men are flocking to Tate.

God designed men for dominion, he calls men to take dominion over everything in this world – including women (see Gen 3:16).  But each week in churches across America, Pastors condemn dominate behavior of any kind calling it unchristian.

The Bible encourages men to seek dominance in the business world:

“The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.”

Proverbs 12:24 (KJV)

“Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.”

Proverbs 22:29 (KJV)

In Deuteronomy 21:10-15, God allowed Israelite soldiers to take captive women and force them to be their wives. In Romans 1:27 God refers to sex as “the natural use of the woman” and in Proverbs 5:19 encourages men to use their wives to “satisfy” their sexual desires.

Where are any of these passages taught in church today? Where in the church are men taught that their desire to dominate in the business world and in the bedroom with a woman is actually the design of God within them?

Instead the church teaches men that their God given desires are selfish and that God made men to serve and please women which is the direct opposite of what the Bible actually says in 1 Corinthians 11:9 (KJV):

“Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.”

Young men are tired of their masculine desires being called “toxic and selfish” by the world and “sinful” by the church.

Is Andrew Tate absolutely wrong for being a whoremonger? Yes – he is wrong. Is he a good role model for men? Absolutely not.

But in the absence of so few Christian men who are good role models that will affirm God-given masculine desire as good – where do these young men have to turn?

Thankfully there is a growing Biblical masculinity movement that rather than shaming masculinity, honors it as the creation of God. And hopefully these young men will come to find godly Christian men that affirm their God given masculinity while calling out perversions of it like Andrew Tate.
