  1. The 7 reasons in your conclusion are right on target. Great post. 2 things I would like to mention. 1. Sex is not solely or even primarily for procreation. Procreation is an important function of sex, yes, but some Christians place too much emphasis on it to the point of minimizing the other reasons for sex within marriage. 2. Reasons 3 and 4 speak of pleasure. Sadly, a hatred of pleasure got into the Christian Church from about the time of (St.) Augustine. The hatred of pleasure and the sexual pessimism found in some Christian Churches have done much harm over the centuries. As well, asceticism, a hatred of the flesh, mortification of the flesh, life long virginity or celibacy do not make one holy. Loving God and loving your fellow man makes one holy. (Unfortunately, ancient pagan schools of thought had a negative effect on the Church in this area.)

  2. I agree 100% with you that sex is not merely, or even soley for reproduction. When ever my wife has joked that her breasts or vagina were made for feeding babies and having babies, I have said to her “what percentage of a woman’s life will she use her breasts and vagina for feeding and baring children? The answer is a very small amount. What percentage of her life will a woman use her vagina and her breasts for the pleasure of her husband? The answer is a vastly larger amount.”

The point is a woman’s body was built primarily for the pleasure and comfort of her husband. Some would say “Did’nt God also make man’s body for the woman?” Theologically speaking that is not true. God created man before woman, and he created woman after man(and specifically for man) to perfectly fit his body(giving her a vagina, to fit with his penis), and he graciously gave her the ability to enjoy her sexual duty with her husband.

Where I think procreation comes in, is that it that I think to get married and selfishly think we can enjoy our spouses in marriage without having children is wrong. God wants us to have children if we can, even though that is not the primary reason for sex.

Augustine caused a great deal of heresy regarding sexuality(and many other areas of theology) to enter the church. Unfortunately, we still have to battle his heresy almost 2000 years later.

  3. I like your blog, and agree with almost all of it, but it still opens up a “can of worms” that we truly will not know the real truth.
Except for one thing that is very obvious- Sex is for Marriage ONLY!
And now it is needed to say that marriage is for 1 man + 1 woman ONLY! No matter what laws man passes…

    See my blog at- https://sailordale.wordpress.com/

  4. “A women can only be impregnated by one man at a time and she can only carry one man’s child at a time” I would like to point out that this statement is nottrue. There have been rare cases where women have been pregnant with twins, with each one having a different father.

  5. Stacey – there are always exceptions and the key word what you said “rare” most women do not drop multiple eggs each month(unless they are on artificial fertility medicine). But the norm of a woman’s body is that she is impregnated by one man, while it is very easy(and it would not be rare) for a man that had multiple wives for him to impregnate more than one of them in one month.

  6. Great article! As a young married Christian woman, this article reiterates very understandably what we already know and clarifies what we didn’t fully comprehend about sex in marriage. Love it

  7. The very sad thing is that many women nowadays are having Sex with other women which is Very Disgusting altogether. What would God say about that one?

  8. If god exists then he makes mistakes. Sex is the biggest of all his mistakes. It is the most emotionally painful thing I have ever experienced.

  9. Yes, 100% true for most things about God making himself a figure in the creation of marriage for recreation. It is embarassing to see people undergoing genital transplanting. What would God say about his creation?

  10. You are truly a blessing to myself and my husband. These are the sort of bible studies we like to do together on Sundays, as we worship our God and make love simultaneously. We’re so grateful for you. ❤ God Bless

  11. Why did God create so many feminist man hating women nowadays making it very difficult for many of us good single men trying to find love today? Women today unfortunately, nothing at all like the old days.

  12. Rick,

God did not create sin, or feminism which is a sinful ideology. Man created the the sinful ideology of feminism because man(as in mankind, human beings) are sinful. God wants all us to turn from all forms of sin(which feminism is just one of) and turn back to him. So really you question would be better understood as “Why does God allow evil in the World”? And the answer is found in the passages below:

“9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
    2 Peter 3:9 (KJV)

“22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:
23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,
24 Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?”
    Romans 9:22-24 (KJV)

God allows good and evil to exist for his glory. That means people who live for him, and people who will reject him. He does this to make known his power known and to show all his attributes – his wrath, his justice, his love, his mercy and his grace.
