This week Michelle Cretella, M.D., president of the American College of Pediatricians, called transgenderism “mental illness” and the promotion of transgenderism among children and teens “ institutionalized child abuse”.
In article on the Daily Signal Dr. Cretella writes:
“I have witnessed an upending of the medical consensus on the nature of gender identity. What doctors once treated as a mental illness, the medical community now largely affirms and even promotes as normal…
The transition-affirming view holds that children who “consistently and persistently insist” that they are not the gender associated with their biological sex are innately transgender.
(The fact that in normal life and in psychiatry, anyone who “consistently and persistently insists” on anything else contrary to physical reality is considered either confused or delusional is conveniently ignored.) …
The crux of the matter is that while the transition-affirming movement purports to help children, it is inflicting a grave injustice on them and their nondysphoric peers.
These professionals are using the myth that people are born transgender to justify engaging in massive, uncontrolled, and unconsented experimentation on children who have a psychological condition that would otherwise resolve after puberty in the vast majority of cases.
Today’s institutions that promote transition affirmation are pushing children to impersonate the opposite sex, sending many of them down the path of puberty blockers, sterilization, the removal of healthy body parts, and untold psychological damage.
These harms constitute nothing less than institutionalized child abuse. Sound ethics demand an immediate end to the use of pubertal suppression, cross-sex hormones, and sex reassignment surgeries in children and adolescents, as well as an end to promoting gender ideology via school curricula and legislative policies.
It is time for our nation’s leaders and the silent majority of health professionals to learn exactly what is happening to our children, and unite to take action.”
We know as Christians that transgenderism is a corruption of our God given nature in the same way that physical deformities and mental illness is corruption caused by sin in the world. The President of the American College of Pediatricians has just made the same case from a scientific perspective.
We need to pray that God will raise up more medical professionals who will stand up against the lies and dilutions of transgenderism and call it what doctors always knew it was until recently – mental illness. She is absolutely right that medical professionals (and I would also argue parents) who encourage transgenderism in their children are committing child abuse.
The scriptures tell us “male and female made he them” (Genesis 1:27), not “male and female and transgender made he them”. We know as Christians that this is not just a mental illness – but it is sin. When a person rejects the gender of the body God has placed them in they are sinning against God himself who created this world. We as Christians should stand up and make clear to our politicians that we will no longer tolerate the lie of transgenderism and the abuse that it brings on our children and teens.

Just for clarification for you and others reading this. The American Academy of Pediatrics(AAP) and the American College of Pediatricians(ACPeds) are two completely different groups. The AAP is the more liberal group that supports gay rights, transgenderism and adoption by gay parents. The ACPeds is a conservative group lists these core values and objectives on their website at https://www.acpeds.org/about-us:
Typically the ACPeds’s research and stands are ridiculed by The American Academy of Pediatrics and others and they take the normal approach of saying since the AAP has 64,000 members and the ACPeds has 500 members their stands on these issues must be right. Just like in other medical or scientific areas(including evolution and climate change) we are told that if the majority of doctors or scientists support a certain conclusion than it must be right. We are told that their stand is based on scientific facts and not politics which is garbage and we all know it.
They basically completely ignore the fact that there probably many of those 64,000 members of The American Academy of Pediatrics who are scared to death of loosing their jobs or being labeled as haters of gays and transgenders so that can’t say what the truth actually is.
The American College of Pediatrics is a conservative political and religious organization that created a name that is easily confused with the American Academy of Pediatrics, a legitimate medical organization. ACP has a history of misrepresenting research in order to fit their conservative agenda, and the official sounding name tricks people into thinking that these are unbiased professionals providing solid recommendations based on research. Of course they say transgenderism is a mental illness. If you want to believe that, it’s your prerogative, but you shouldn’t base your beliefs on anything coming from this dishonest sham of an organization.
I can remember back when “regular” homosexuality was still considered a mental disorder, and it was listed as such in the DSM manual. BUT, due to pressure from the homosexual lobby and political correctness, all references to homosexuality as the mental illness that it is were removed from the DSM and all other official publications and documents from all of the medical, psychiatric & physiological groups & organizations. And yes, very soon all references to “transgenderism” will fall, due to pressure and political correctness.
And that’s a shame, because homosexuals & “transgenders” DO have a serious mental illness, and they really need psychiatric HELP, not just “acceptance!!! People like Ashley and others like her are doing MORE harm to those people than any Christian has ever done!!! Because transgenderism really IS a mental illness!

When one accepts women soldiers they have already laid all the social and legal groundwork for Bruce Jenner. Every time a woman breaks the barrier into a male space they are advancing the gender distortion. In short feminism is the precursor to transvestism and transsexualism. If the sexes are equal then they can be reversed and if reversed then homosexuality is as legitimate as wives that rule their husbands or “happy wife – happy life”.
God’s law forbid men and women to dress the same, to be the same and to covet each others roles, responsibilities and benefits. The masculinization of women and the feminization of men is the zeitgeist of this culture and the results that follow of transvestism, transgenderism and unisex abominations are part of God’s curse on a nation and a church that has given Him their back.
Its not just a mental disease, but it is the result of a fallen condition that is NOT ignorant of God. No it is in rebellion against His rule and law. The decades of preaching an emasculated Christ and antinomian ethics were sowing the wind. What we are reaping now is just the beginning the full destructive force; the whirlwind is on its way.
